New place to e-cycle!

It’s always a pain when you have to recycle an old computer battery, cell phone or another gadget, because it can be hard to find a place to recycle them correctly and (if you’re like me) for free.

Now there’s a new option — Staples!

Staples is partnering with HP to recycle old electronics for free. And don’t worry if you don’t have an HP brand to recycle — they accept all brands of:

  • desktop PCs
  • laptops
  • netbooks
  • tablet PCs
  • external hard drives and small servers
  • computer monitors
  • printers
  • desktop copiers
  • faxes
  • all-in-one devices
  • mice
  • keyboards
  • modems/routers
  • PC speakers
  • shredders
  • streaming devices
  • phones
  • Universal Power Supply (UPS battery backup)
  • mobile phones
  • GPS devices
  • MP3 players
  • digital camcorders
  • digital cameras

You can recycle up to six items a day.

And while they do recycle a lot, there are a few items they won’t recycle:

  • televisions
  • appliances
  • alkaline batteries
  • floor model copiers/printers
  • large servers
  • audio/visual equipment
  • certain other household electronics, like kitchen electronics.
